Neil Griffin’s Poetry

Field Season: Waiting out the Storm

Outside the jungle’s green
lungs heave tubercular
slicking the walls of our nylon cell

But inside it’s dry
firefly eyes spark in torchlight
and every card we lay
seems to come up hearts
