Aidan Chafe’s Poetry

Perfect Death

If I could choose
it would be from
a thousand of your kisses

each placed on a different part
of my body like your lips
had become jellyfish
injecting fireworks into my
bloodstream, tiny explosions
filling me up—

a balloon until
I burst, and my eyes
were ready to let you go

Aidan Chafe is the author the chapbooks Right Hand Hymns (Frog Hollow Press) and Sharpest Tooth (Anstruther Press) and has a full-length poetry collection forthcoming in 2018 with McGill-Queen’s University Press.
